Juvederm and Swelling- No Reason to Worry Yet
Juvederm and swelling are two terms which go hand in hand together. This is because there are some treatments where it can become a side effect. But usually they can subside in about a week’s time. The other common side effects this treatment procedure can lead to are tenderness, pain, and redness at the area where the injection was administered.
The common areas where Juvederm is being injected includes the lips, cheeks, tear trough, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and near the eye area. However, if it will be done onto the eye area, there is a higher risk involved. This is due to the thinness and the sensitivity of the skin surrounding the area. On the other hand, the best place where Juvederm can be injected onto the face is the nasolabial fold.
This injectable gel filler can be used using three different formulas, namely: Juvederm 18, Juvederm 24, and Juvederm 30. The first type is a fluid gel which is intended for the upper dermis for the fine lines on the face like crow’s feet. Juvederm 24 is a denser gel which is for the mid dermis. It is used for moderate lines like the wrinkles on the forehead. Lastly, Juvederm 30 is the densest gel. This is because it is specially formulated to target the deep dermis. It is being used on the folds between the nose and cheeks, reshaping cheek contours, enhancing lip volume and the nasolabial folds.
Wherever the injected spot will be, Juvederm and swelling can occur. If this happens, patients need not worry for the next 7 days. Once it lasts longer, going back to the cosmetic surgeon who administered the injection is advisable. He should be able to remove the swelling and return your skin back to being normal. There are also some instances where the side effects occur weeks or months after the treatment. The important part is the surgeon has followed FDA-approved guidelines.
